- What if I only have braces on the top or on the bottom? Is the device impacting both arches?
The device only enhances the pressure already being applied by braces or an aligner. Therefore, if either arch - the upper or lower - is not being treated, then the pulsating forces will not have any impact since no constant pressure is being applied. Close
- If I use the device more than the prescribed duration, does it add incremental benefit?
No. The pulsating forces are believed to trigger and turn on a biological "switch." It is just like a light switch; once it is "on," it cannot be turned "more on." In fact, there is a limit to the amount of time that the device can operate in a 24-hour period, so users will not be capable of using it for more than the recommended duration. Close
- What is the best way to clean the device?
The device is sealed such that cleaning it with water and a cloth is permitted. The most effective approach is to separate the mouthpiece from the motor compartment and clean them separately. The mouthpiece is fabricated from polyurethane and can be gently scrubbed with a brush and mouth rinse or other oral disinfectant/antimicrobial. None of the device components should be autoclaved or run through a dishwasher. Close
- How often should I clean the device?
It is only necessary to clean the device once it becomes noticeably and visibly dirty. There is not any need to regularly clean it otherwise. Close
- Is the device water proof?
The device is sealed such that water coming into contact with the external surfaces should not cause harm in most reasonable situations. The device should never be submerged under water for any reason and the "insides" of the device, including the microprocessor, will be damaged if direct contact with water is made. Close
- Can I try to wear the device while I am sleeping?
No. Sleeping, eating/drinking, and talking are among the activities that cannot be undertaken while using the device. Essentially, the user’s mouth must be closed. Close
